Safari has overtaken the Microsoft Edge Browser to become the second most popular desktop browser in the market. Safari overtakes Edge to become the second most popular desktop browser, and Google Chrome is far ahead of the competition

According to web analytics service StatCounter, Google Chrome remains the undisputed champion when it comes to desktop browser popularity. The browser has managed to secure the top post for a while, and other companies are not even close to the number Google has achieved. However, you will see fluctuations every now and then as one beats the other, but Google's Chrome browser rests on the top.

In terms of numbers, the Apple Safari web browser is running on 11.87 percent of desktops in the world. Microsoft's Edge browser rests at 11 percent, which is only 0.87 percent behind Apple's Safari browser for desktops. Google Chrome, on the other hand, takes a massive chunk out of the market with 66.13 percent. The Chrome browser has rested at the number-one spot for a while as it offered enhanced features with easier navigation. Even though Apple's Safari desktop browser is far behind Google Chrome, this year the company took its spot ahead of Microsoft Edge desktop browser. While the margin is small between the two, Safari is headed in the right direction. Safari's popularity is directly associated with the number of Macs running in the market, Potentially due to a higher demand for Macs in 2022 and an increased popularity ratio compared to the Edge browser.

Another important point to note here is that Safari is only available on Macs, while Google Chrome can be downloaded as a separate software on any Windows machine and even Macs. With Apple's upcoming Macs and upgraded internals, the company's popularity ratio could further grow. Nonetheless, Google Chrome would still rest in the number one spot as Windows computers would continue to support it.
