GMKtec is about to release a brand new AI mini PC, and we can already sense what hardware will power this compact machine.

GMKtec Announces 2nd Gen Desktop AI Supercomputer With 180 TOPS of AI Power

Popular mini PC maker, GMKtec, has teased a brand new AI mini PC on X, claiming that it can deliver up to 180 TOPS of AI performance inside a small box. GMKtec hasn't revealed the specifications of this mini PC and left it to the readers to guess the hardware. The company already has all the latest Intel and AMD-based mini PCs, such as Arrow Lake and Zen 5-powered mini PCs, including powerful chips such as Ryzen AI Max+ 395 in the EVO series.

GMKtec's current fastest Intel-based min PC is the EVO T1, featuring the Core Ultra 9 285H processor, which delivers a combined 99 AI TOPs of power. GMKtec says its "2nd-gen" desktop AI Supercomputer can deliver up to 180 AI TOPs of performance, which clearly indicates the Intel Panther Lake series. Flagship Zen 5 mobile processors, such as the Ryzen AI Max+ 395, can deliver up to 126 AI TOPS of performance, with Panther Lake being the only platform to surpass it in combined AI throughput.

There are a couple of SKUs that can reach 180 AI TOPs of power in the Panther Lake series, including processors like Core Ultra X7 358H, Ultra X7 368H, and the flagship Core Ultra X9 388H, which offer a 12 Xe3-core based Arc B390 iGPU. The iGPU alone brings up to 122 AI TOPs of power, and when combined with 50 TOPs through NPU5 and around 9 AI TOPs by the CPU, it reaches around 180-181 AI TOPs of power.

So, GMKtec is likely going to use one of these three SKUs or perhaps will debut the new AI Mini PC with various configurations, offering different SKUs for those who crave more power. Design-wise, the 2nd Gen AI mini PC doesn't look any different in its chassis than the current EVO T1. GMKtec hasn't unveiled anything related to the RAM and storage capacity, but going by the currently available configurations on the EVO T1, the newer machine can also bring similar configurations, including 64 GB + 1 TB and 96 GB + 2 TB.

As for price and availability, we shall hear more about the 2nd-gen mini PC in the coming days.
