Not just MSI and OneXPlayer, Acer has too joined the race in bringing the Intel Arc G3 Extreme chip to its upcoming flagship handheld.
Acer Introduces Intel Arc G3 Extreme-Based ATLAS 8 Gaming Handheld, Rivaling MSI and OneXPlayer Offerings
With the introduction of the Intel Arc G3 series, many handheld makers are quickly adopting the fastest Intel SoCs for their upcoming handhelds. Through the power of 14 CPU cores, the SoC is already a beast in computing, but with the Arc B390-equivalent graphics, the flagship Arc G3 Extreme becomes an extremely impressive chip for modern gaming.
Popular manufacturer Acer has just unveiled its latest gaming handheld based on the same chip, and it is named Predator Atlas 8. The company has been making handhelds mostly on the AMD chips up until now, but it looks like more and more manufacturers are no longer hesitating to go with the Team Blue. After OneXPlayer, Acer has showcased its Predator Atlas 8 gaming handheld, featuring the Intel Arc G3 Extreme chip.
This chip is sufficiently powerful for playing modern games, and with a large 8-inch display, the Predator Atlas 8 aims to provide an immersive experience. Although smaller than the OneXPlayer 3, an 8-inch display is still quite big, but the thing that matters the most is the resolution and smoothness. It will be an FHD+ display on the Predator Atlast 8 that will be running at a good 120 Hz refresh rate. With up to 500 Nits of brightness, this is going to be plenty bright for well-lit environments.
Moreover, it's a touch display, so users will have an easier time navigating through the apps and their games library. The Predator Atlas 8 will bring PredatorSense for performance and lighting control, and users can choose from Quiet, Balanced, Turbo, or Manual modes according to their needs. Since it boasts powerful hardware, cooling is done through a dual-fan configuration that Acer claims to offer 10% more airflow.
The handheld will be available in up to 1 TB of storage and 24 GB of memory. Powered by an 80Wh battery, it's competitive with the Arc G3 Extreme-based handhelds announced till now. Acer hasn't disclosed any pricing or availability information on the handheld yet.
