GMKtec opened up CES doors to present its latest EVO-T2 Mini PC, powered by Intel's Panther Lake, & offering some great features.
GMKTec Offers Superb Graphics Performance, 180 TOPS AI Compute & 16 Cores of Intel Panther Lake Goodness In Its Upcoming EVO-T2 Mini PC
Mini PCs and handhelds are getting a lot of love these days since almost every manufacturer is rolling out one in some form. One manufacturer whose Mini PCs we have tested extensively is GMKtec, and they are also rolling out the latest addition to the lineup, the EVO-T2.
The GMKtec EVO-T2 Mini PC is an update to the EVO-T1, which featured the Intel Core Ultra 9 285H CPU. The new variant packs Intel's latest and greatest Panther Lake "Core Ultra Series 3" CPUs, in configurations up to the flagship Core Ultra X9 388H. The Mini PC is designed as an AI, Gaming, and Productivity power-house, and delivers a nice set of IO too in the same compact design that we have come to expect from GMKtec.
Besides the Intel Panther Lake upgrade, the GMKtec EVO-T2 Mini PC will come packed with up to 128 GB of LPDDR5X memory operating at speeds of up to 9600 MT/s, Dual PCIe 5.0 and PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots for up to 16 TB capacities, 10 GbE and 2.5 GbE Ethernet, several USB Type-C ports including USB4 with 100W PD, and OCuLink external GPU support.
The T2 features two power modes: the standard 45W balanced mode and an 80W Dynamic performance mode. This should enable even higher performance, and with the solid built-in cooling, which adopts a dual-fan design, the PC should not only sustain these high TDPs but also offer very good temperatures for the internal hardware.
Mini PCs such as the GMKtec EVO-T2 are now seen as viable developer boxes, easily supporting large LLMs locally with updated memory and NPU capacities. This means that Mini PCs are a crucial part of today's market, and the amount of Mini PCs being rolled out recently is evidence of that. With that said, GMKtec's EVO-T2 is expected to hit retail this quarter, so stay tuned for more information.
