As teased by various rumors, a new Gears was indeed announced at the Xbox Games Showcase 2024, but it's actually titled Gears of War: E-Day. The in-engine trailer shows Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago dealing with the Locust menace for the first time ever on Emergency Day. As such, it can be considered a prequel to the previous games.
