Gears of War E-Day

Gears of War E-Day may be heading to PlayStation at some point, judging from a recent job listing related to the new entry in the series in development by The Coalition.

The job ad, which can be found here, is for a senior online client engineer whose responsibility will be to work on the new entry in the series, helping build the multiplayer and online experiences, including in-game economies and commerce, session management, player statistics, user-generated content, matchmaking, and game content management. Among the preferred qualifications, alongside experience with Unreal Engine and other object-oriented programming languages, is experience with Xbox Live, Steam and PlayStation Network, and other gaming platforms. While this could be a whole lot of nothing, it's definitely interesting to see the PlayStation Network mentioned alongside two online multiplayer platforms where the game is sure to release.

Not a whole lot is currently known about Gears of War E-Day. The new entry in the series will be a prequel set fourteen years before the first entry and will allow players to experience the horror of Emergence Day through the eyes of Marcus Fenix. What the development team is already certain about at this point is that the game's story will be an amazing showcase of their tech and that the game will be the best entry in the series.

Gears of War E-Day is now in development for PC and Xbox Series X|S. A release date has yet to be confirmed.
