The Galaxy S25 Ultra is outfitted with some exceptionally powerful features, but it is not without its flaws, and the flagship has been centered around some negativity thanks to the assumption that Samsung downgraded its features, particularly regarding the functionality of the device’s S Pen. While it was initially believed that the accessory that comes bundled with the Galaxy S25 Ultra would support Bluetooth, Samsung has cleared some confusion on that front, stating that the stylus will not support the wireless connectivity protocol and, consequently, miss out on some features.
It was mentioned previously that the Galaxy S25 Ultra S Pen will be sold separately and acts as a remote control to perform a variety of functions
On Samsung’s Insights Blog that was spotted by Android Authority, Samsung mentioned that the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s S Pen will support Bluetooth connectivity and could act as a remote control, but customers would have to purchase it separately. Also, a host of other Air Actions would be available.
“The Bluetooth-enabled S Pen (now sold separately) acts as a remote control within select apps to help maximize productivity. Simply press the button on the side of the pen to activate the Air Actions menu and view all the available gestures.”
Fortunately, the publication reached out to Samsung just in time, who provided some clarification concerning the S Pen. Unfortunately, those expecting upgraded functionality from the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s stylus will be sorely disappointed. Then again, it is likely that the company performed some survey on how many people actually use the S Pen daily. Since this smartphone is perhaps the only mainstream device that ships with an accessory, chances are there would be rare occasions where the S Pen would be removed from its holsters.
In short, its addition might come in handy, but it is not necessary to have. While it is downright crushing to learn that Samsung has removed some features from the S Pen, the Galaxy S25 Ultra itself is a phenomenal flagship if you look at it as a standalone product. If you want to become an early adopter, Amazon will reward your efforts by giving you a $200 gift card for your troubles. However, you will have to hurry because the offer will end on February 7, which is when the flagship officially releases.
