The Galaxy S24 Ultra is a remarkable device in several ways, and one of the biggest changes found in the phone is that the frame is now titanium. Samsung decided to go with the grade 2 titanium since it offers better bonding capabilities. Now, a tip has surfaced suggesting that the same could be the case with the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which will not come out for a long time yet. However, this is not the first time we have heard that this might be the case with Samsung's upcoming flagship.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra will be built like a tank, but we are not surprised
Back in March, a rumor popped up that Samsung would be sticking to the same grade 2 titanium for the Galaxy S25 Ultra since it offers better bonding capabilities. Honestly, it would not have mattered a lot to anyone because the Galaxy S24 Ultra feels like it is built like a tank, so it would have been a no-brainer to go for the same choice of metal. Now, the rumor has popped up again, albeit from a different source.
Honestly, there is nothing wrong with Samsung going for the same grade of titanium. However, the source also claims that there could be grade 3. Grade 3 titanium is not as commonly used as grade 2, but it is better than both grade 1 and grade 2 titanium. It offers good weldability and extremely high corrosion resistance, but at the same time, it is difficult to mold while offering more strength than its predecessor. I would like to see what Samsung has to offer regarding the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
For the sake of comparison, the iPhone 15 Pro series uses grade 5 titanium which also has traces of aluminum and vanadium, whereas the grade 2 titanium is considered a lot purer. Again, it is too early for us to confirm the grade of titanium Samsung will be using for the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The phone is not due until January next year, so there is a good bit of time there.
I honestly believe that it should not be that big of a deal. The Galaxy S24 Ultra, with its grade 2 titanium, is one of the best-built phones on the market. Samsung has managed to make a reputation for itself for having robust phones, so it should not really be that big of an issue. We are looking forward to the Galaxy S25 Ultra next year, and I cannot wait to see what Samsung has in store for us.
