The time is finally here; Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy S24 series, with the Ultra variant being the crown jewel of the series. The phones have been in the rumor mill for as long as we can remember and are finally here. We have a complete breakdown of everything that you need to know.
Now, there are no surprises here as far as the core specs are concerned. The Galaxy S24 Ultra runs the latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Gen for Galaxy. You are getting some added benefits here in terms of speeds over the standard chipset. The phone maxes out at 12 gigs of RAM, and you have the option to go for 1TB of storage if you wish to.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra is not cheap, but it certainly is the best smartphone that Samsung has delivered in a long time
The front of the Galaxy S24 Ultra is what I would call the biggest change, to be honest. Samsung has decided to ditch the curved screen for a gorgeous 6.8-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED display that supports a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and can go as bright as 2,600 nits. Now, I do understand that the peak brightness is not the highest when compared to others, but I can assure you that Samsung's screens are always class-leading. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass Armor, and the same glass is found on the back in a frosted finish with a titanium frame in the middle.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra runs Android 14 on top of One UI 6.1 out of the box - this new version of the One UI adds a lot of AI-based features that we will be talking about in a separate post. But the crux of it is that Samsung's investment in AI is finally paying off, as the phone is full of AI-based features that you can make use of.
Samsung has decided to opt against a massive change in the camera department this year. The main camera is a 200-megapixel sensor with f/1.7 aperture and a 24mm field of view. The sensor size is 1/1.3", 0.6µm, and you get all the features that you would expect from a Samsung sensor. You are also getting a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera that can offer 5x optical zoom. There is also a 10-megapixel telephoto camera offering 3x optical zoom. Last but not least, you have a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera with autofocus, and a 12-megapixel selfie shooter rests on the front.
The camera might look ordinary to Samsung users, but the Galaxy S24 Ultra takes full advantage of Galaxy AI to improve the images and videos. Samsung has promised that there will be a drastic difference between the images and videos taken from the Galaxy S23 Ultra and its newest flagship, and honestly, only time can tell just how good AI can be. But if the AI is just as good as Google's implementation, then you will not be disappointed at all.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra also brings Wi-Fi 7 to the mainstream. You also get other connectivity options, such as Bluetooth 5.3 and the other communications you would expect from a modern-day flagship. The phone also comes with an under-display ultrasonic fingerprint reader, UWB support, satellite support, as well as USB Type-C 3.2 for charging. Speaking of charging, the Galaxy S24 Ultra sports a 5,000 mAh battery and can charge on wired at 45W, with wireless charging at 15W. You also get reverse wireless charging at 4.5W.
Now that the Galaxy S24 Ultra is official, you might be interested in finding out the pricing and availability.
