Galaxy S24 Ultra is negligibly lighter than the Galaxy S23 Ultra

Titanium is a much lighter material than stainless steel, which is why both the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max weigh less than the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. However, with the Galaxy S24 Ultra, that difference is negligible when compared to the Galaxy S23 Ultra, despite Samsung having switched to titanium.

Even with the use of titanium, Samsung’s Galaxy S24 Ultra is just a gram lighter than the Galaxy S23 Ultra, but there is a strong reason why

Looking at the weight comparison of the Galaxy S24 Ultra and the Galaxy S23 Ultra on Samsung’s website, it would seem that the difference is hardly there, with last year’s model being just 1 gram heavier than its successor. Samsung’s new flagship weighs in at 232 grams, and the use of titanium did not deliver any significant reduction to the overall mass, but it definitely forced a price hike, with the Galaxy S24 Ultra now costing $100 more for the base version.

Still, you cannot argue that the new colors of Samsung’s top-end handset for this year look absolutely gorgeous. As reported by Sammobile, the weight difference is hardly pronounced between the two smartphones because Samsung was already using aluminum on the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which is significantly lighter than the stainless steel that Apple used for the iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, and earlier models.

This is why the weight difference is not pronounced, but you should be informed that while titanium is a stronger material than aluminum, it is not lighter. Even then, Samsung made significant efforts to ensure that the Galaxy S24 Ultra ended up being lighter, with the end goal achieved, though not to the extent we would have liked. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is also rumored to be using a vapor chamber that is 190 percent larger than the one present in the Galaxy S23 Ultra, so that extra copper may have added to the bulk of the flagship.
