Last Friday, Epic Games launched the so-called Fortnite Season OG, taking the Battle Royale game back in time to its very beginning in 2018.

Players are once again dropping in the original island map, and from the looks of it, they love the throwback. The game broke new player count records this weekend; according to Fortnite.GG, Fortnite Season OG registered a new concurrent player peak at 6.172 million players on Saturday night. Epic also chimed in, revealing that Saturday was the biggest day in the game's history, with over 44.7 million players jumping in and 102 million hours played.

Circana (NPD) Executive Director and video game industry analyst Mat Piscatella tweeted that on November 3rd, the first day of Fortnite Season OG's availability, 38% of all Xbox players and 33% of all PlayStation players launched the game. Xbox players averaged 195 minutes in Fortnite that day, while PlayStation players went even higher with 204 minutes.

It's certainly great news for Epic, which recently had to lay off a significant portion of its workforce due to financial issues. We'll see if the nostalgia factor lasts, though many fans are already clamoring to make this a permanent mode.

Anyway, here's the schedule for the remainder of Fortnite Season OG:
