Firebat Prepares Huan 16 Air Gaming Laptop With Upgradeable Discrete GPU: RTX 4060 8 GB Variant Listed For $780 1

This Chinese-branded laptop features a very modular design, separating the GPU into its own discrete package with an RTX 4060.

Firebat Huan 16 Air laptop is listed on a Chinese retailer at 5599 RMB: Configuration includes Ryzen 7 8845HS and a discrete GeForce RTX 4060 with up to 170W of total operating power

The quest for crafting a modular gaming laptop hasn't been very successful despite some companies trying to bring it to the mainstream market. The complex design and the cost of manufacturing such notebooks have forced laptop makers to go with the traditional designs that have everything soldered to the motherboard.

This is the reason why not even the CPU can be upgraded on most laptops and the same goes for the graphics card. Hence, once laptops reach their maximum gaming performance potential, they almost hit the end of life when it comes to future-proofing. However, the latest design introduced by the Chinese company Firebat may change this significantly.

The company prepared a much more affordable modular laptop that utilizes the GX 2.0 design for separating the GPU from the motherboard. While the rest of the components will still be soldered on the motherboard, at least the GPU could be detached, which affects the gaming performance the most.

With such a design, the Huan 16 Air gaming laptop is able to maintain an upgradeable design without introducing much weight. The Huan 16 Air weighs just 1.98kg and has a thin body, measuring just 18mm in thickness.

The configuration includes AMD's Hawk Point Zen 4-based Ryzen 7 8845HS CPU that itself comes with a powerful iGPU. However, users can obtain higher graphical performance through the discrete NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 laptop GPU.

The CPU is rated at a good 90W TDP while the GPU can reach up to 140W. Together, the laptop can supply 170W of power to the components, which allows the Huan 16 Air to reach decent gaming/productivity performance. The current configuration provides 32GB RAM and 1 TB SSD and supports 240Hz at a 2.5K resolution.

Currently, the Huan 16 Air is listed at Jd.com for 5599 RMB, which translates to US$780 without tax. This is certainly, an impressive price tag for such a laptop as RTX 4060-laptops are already close to $1000.

The upgradeability aspect is amazing at this price tag and, considering other features, the Huan 16 Air is worth its price. Nonetheless, this is the discounted price, which should increase after the promo ends, and it will reach 6000+ RMB.
