AMD Ryzen 5 5600 XT & Ryzen 5 5600T Now Available, New Options For AM4 Platforms For Under $200 1

AMD's Zen 3 is going strong, but the rise of the 8-core/16-thread Ryzen 5800X/XT is surprising, as it is closest to the Ryzen 7 9800X3D in sales figures.

AMD Ryzen 7 5800XT and 5800X Secure the 2nd Position in Best Selling CPUs List on Amazon and Mindfactory; Sells Nearly 3,000 Units in a Month

With the comeback of the AM4 platform, the AMD Zen 3 processors are selling like hotcakes once again. AMD's 8-core processors are growing in demand, and we can clearly see the effect in the sales data. Till now, the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D and 7800X3D have been together outsellling the entire Intel CPU stack for a long time. However, things are changing fast, and with DDR5 memory becoming insanely expensive, many are opting for the AM4 platform, which has resulted in a rise in Zen 3 CPU sales.

It's understandable that with DDR4 platforms like AM4 becoming more popular again, the Ryzen 5000 series will increase in sales, but some of the SKUs are even outselling the best gaming CPUs on the planet. After Ryzen 7 9850X3D/9800X3D, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D has remained one of the best-selling CPUs in many regions, but it is now outsold by much older 8-core/16-thread AMD Ryzen 7 5800XT and 5800X processors. The sales data show a large difference in the shipped units if we consider the figures from Amazon US and the German retailer Mindfactory.

Amazon US sales data for the last month shows AMD has shipped nearly 3,000 units of Ryzen 7 5800XT, while just 1,000 units of Ryzen 7 7800X3D were shipped in the same time frame. Ryzen 7 9800X3D still remains the king with 5,000 units, but the 5800XT was able to outsell top-selling chips like Ryzen 5 9600X and Ryzen 5 5500. Similarly, on Mindfactory, we see Ryzen 7 5800X securing the second position in best-selling CPUs with nearly 120 units shipped in a week, followed by Ryzen 7 7800X3D with an equal number of units.

One of the major reasons for its popularity is the unavailability of chips like Ryzen 5 5800X3D and 5700X3D, which were the best gaming processors in the Zen 3 lineup. Since AMD has EOL'd both, only Ryzen 7 5800X/XT remains as the most preferred choice for gamers/professionals, as 8-core CPUs are becoming more popular than ever. Other Zen 3 chips like Ryzen 5 5500, Ryzen 7 5700X, and Ryzen 5 5600 are also selling quite well, trading blows with Ryzen 7000 and Ryzen 9000 series SKUs.
