A Final Fantasy VIII Remake Would Have To Be Developed By Younger Staff, Director Says

Development of the Final Fantasy VII Remake is far from being done, with the first part of the remake only releasing March next year, but it seems like Square Enix has already started thinking about remaking the eight entry in the series, as director Yoshinori Kitase briefly touched upon a possible Final Fantasy VIII Remake recently.

Speaking with Famitsu, as translated by Siliconera, Yoshinori Kitase said that he would love the younger staff to work on a possible Final Fantasy VIII Remake.

If the youth that inherits the genes of Final Fantasy can step up and do it, then I’d like to see it made. For Final Fantasy VII Remake, the project started from my desire to make Final Fantasy VII with today’s technology while I’m still here at Square Enix. So I’d like to see it [Final Fantasy VIII Remake] done by the youth of Square Enix.

While this isn't a confirmation in any way, it's interesting to see who a Final Fantasy VIII Remake may be in the cards in the future.
