Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth's file size is going to be absolutely humongous, which is not that surprising for a game that is being released on two discs.

As reported by PlayStation Game Size on X/Twitter, the second part of the remake trilogy will be 145.250 GB big in its 1.001.000 version, so the file size could be even bigger if the game is updated before launch. Users will have two days to pre-load the game, as pre-loading will begin on February 27th.

In addition to the full game's file size, PlayStation Game Size also discovered a Final Fantasy VII Rebirth playable demo on the PlayStation database. While its size hasn't been revealed, it was possible to confirm that those who play the demo will get the Kupo Charm - Survival Set in-game item for the full release. Interestingly enough, the demo will also feature save transferring, suggesting that the demo will allow players to play from the very beginning of the game and transfer their progress to the final version. With a State of Play presentation focused on the game airing on February 6th, it's very likely the demo will be released on the same day.

It has only been almost four years since the release of Final Fantasy VII Remake, and getting Final Fantasy VII Rebirth out sooner was one of the team's top priorities. Speaking in a recent interview, Game Director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed how developing the game with the Unreal Engine 4 allowed development to proceed much quicker, although the Unreal Engine 5 was an attractive option.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth launches on PlayStation 5 on February 29th worldwide.
