The additional content of the War of the Lions release may at very least have been considered for Final Fantasy Tactics - The Ivalice Chronicles at some point, judging from some recent findings.

Using a Cheat Engine table to alter in-game values, YouTube user Gus Pagan discovered that the remaster of the classic tactical role-playing game released last month on PC and consoles features hidden in its files evidence that the War of the Lions content, or at least part of it, may have been considered. This includes the Dark Knight and Onion Knight Jobs and the extra characters Balthier and Luso.

As the implementation of these extra Jobs and characters is clearly incomplete, however, they could simply be leftover data that was carried over from the War of the Lions version code. Still, this could definitely bode well even if the extra content isn't officially released for the remaster, as modders could use this data to port the content themselves, something that has already happened for the original PSX version of the game.

[UPDATE - October 15, 5:07 AM] Intrigued by the possibility of having a custom-made Dark Knight unit in Final Fantasy Tactics - The Ivalice Chronicles, I downloaded a Cheat Engine table to change an existing unit into a Dark Knight. I assigned the unit the Fell Sword Job Command to access some of the abilities the Job can use in the War of the Lions release without touching the rest of the build to avoid any potential issue in combat, but the attempt failed. The Dark Knight Job sprite shows correctly in menus, but deploying the unit crashes the game, confirming that while the assets are present, the job itself is not functional.

While having the exclusive War of the Lions content would make Final Fantasy Tactics - The Ivalice Chronicles the true definitive edition of the tactical role-playing game, in no way does the remaster need it to be an excellent game. Check out my review to learn how choice improvements like voice acting and a tweaked user interface enhance an already excellent game.
