The M4 iPad Pro models come with an impressive set of internals that transform the entire iPad experience, as Apple wants the device to replace your computer. While performance is one aspect of the iPad Pro, the company also embedded a slew of new features that genuinely bring it much closer to desktop-class productivity. Apple also designed various apps specifically for the iPad Pro that can take advantage of the new M4 chip. The company has now released Final Cut Pro for iPad 2, Final Cut Pro 10.8 for Mac, and Final Cut Camera for the iPhone, with major changes and new features.
Apple finally released Final Cut Pro for iPad 2 and Final Cut Pro 10.8 for Mac, with significant features and changes
While the company has released an updated version of its video editing apps for the iPad and Mac, it saw fit to re-brand it for the M4 iPad Pro, calling it Final Cut Pro for iPad 2. Part of the new changes, according to Apple, includes 2 times faster rendering than before and up to 4 times more streams of ProRes RAW compared to the M1 chip on the iPad Pro.
One of the major additions in the Final Cut Pro for iPad 2 includes Live Multicam capability, allowing users to connect and stream up to four cameras at the same time. Users can use an iPhone or iPad camera with manual controls for each. This can be done through the new Final Cut Camera app for the iPhone and iPad, which has been released alongside the latest updates on the App Store.
If you rest on the editing side of things, you would be excited to know that the company also has embedded support for the Apple Pencil, including its barrel role feature for intricate controls. You might also be glad to know the external drive support is also here, allowing you to save your content on an external device rather than the iPad itself. You can download the app from the iPadOS App Store.
Now that we have the Final Cut Pro app out of the water for the M4 iPad Pro, Apple has also released an updated version for the Mac. The Final Cut Pro 10.8 for Mac also offers a slew of upgrades, including new AI-assisted features, Enhanced Light and Color, and Smooth Slo-Mo. According to Apple, these features would allow for better color correction, while the new slo-mo feature will blend frames together seamlessly for a higher-quality video. You can download the app from the Mac App Store.
Other than this, Final Cut Pro 10.8 for Mac also improves workflows and searches the timeline index for various media and effects. There are a boatload of additional features that you can try in the latest update. Lastly, Apple has also released the Final Cut Camera for the iPhone, which can be used with the iPad and Mac versions of the app. While the Final Cut Camera works as a companion app, users can also use it as a standalone video app on the iPhone. It can be considered a 'Pro' app, considering the number of tools and settings available.
Final Cut Camera puts you in the director’s chair with intuitive pro controls for your entire video production. Seamlessly start a Live Multicam session by connecting up to four devices running Final Cut Camera to preview, record and sync your video angles in Final Cut Pro for iPad.
Capture with powerful settings including shutter speed, ISO, white balance and manual focus. Easily customise your resolution, frame rate, colour space and more. Quickly monitor your video with focus peaking and overexposure indicators. Dial in the perfect shot for your professional videos with Final Cut Camera.
You can save your videos on external storage right through the app and transfer media to Final Cut projects. You can also download the app on your iPhone, running iOS 17.4 and later versions.
