Fable was supposed to be among the games launching in this packed 2026, but Xbox and Playground Games eventually had to delay the game to early 2027 to avoid releasing too close to Grand Theft Auto VI. During today's Xbox Games Showcase, we learned that the next entry in the series will launch on February 23, 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, with early access for the Premium Edition starting from February 5.

Besides confirming the game's release date, today's trailer introduced Isabel (played by Hayley Atwell), the Hero of Wraitmarsh and the game's main villain, while doubling down on the mockumentary style that is set to define the experience, although with a more serious tone.

“Isabel is a driven, powerful Hero on a quest to make right a tragic injustice," said Fable Associate Narrative Director, Craig Owens, in a new post on the official Xbox website revealing the entire main cast. "Driven by grief, Isabel has turned her pain into determination and focus that sets her at odds with The Hero of Briar Hill and Humphry, her one-time guardian. Isabel’s conviction that she’s not just doing the right thing, but she’ll be able to make right any harm she causes along the way makes her a powerful, dangerous enemy."

Although Fable has been delayed to avoid launching too close to Grand Theft Auto VI, the February 27, 2027 launch for the next entry in the series is going to make the second month of the year a pretty hot one for role-playing game fans, as Atlus is also launching its next major RPG project just a few days earlier. While the two games target somewhat different audiences, many will end up having to choose one over the other, potentially leading to a repeat of one of the most packed release windows in recent memory that is set to have an impact on many game's launch success.
