An entry-level gaming laptop will never provide you with a gaming experience compared to a premium one, but that also means that you don’t have to fork over triple the sum. Also, there is a large percentage of consumers who prefer some casual gaming and productivity, which is what an affordable machine like the Acer Nitro V can offer. With its RTX 5050 and $688 price tag on Amazon, you get a solid configuration that doesn’t break the bank.
The Acer Nitro V can deliver impressive framerates in competitive shooters like Valorant, Counter-Strike 2, and others with the 8GB RTX 5050
The affordable gaming laptop has a traditional 15.6-inch FHD, or 1,920 x 1,080 resolution from its IPS LCD, with a refresh rate of 165Hz. In short, you will get to enjoy most titles that are covered in that 8GB video RAM limit because that is what the RTX 5050 offers. Thankfully, the memory is the latest GDDR7 standard, which runs more efficiently and has a higher bandwidth, so that’s a plus.
As for the other specifications, the Acer Nitro V is equipped with an Intel Core i5-13420H, which houses 12MB of L3 cache and has an 8-core CPU that comprises of four performance and four efficiency cores, with a total of 12 threads. Paired with the processor is 16GB DDR5 RAM and a 512GB PCIe NVMe Gen 4 SSD. While both memory and storage can be upgraded, we recommend avoiding such purchases because of the astronomical pricing, which has forced PC hardware to become unaffordable.
As for the ports, you get a single Thunderbolt 4 input, which is highly surprising, given the price of the Nitro V, coupled with a single USB-C 3.2, and another USB-C port that can supply up to 65W of juice. For battery life, don’t expect anything earth-shattering because these machines aren’t known for their legendary runtimes. However, you cannot argue that, for the price, you’re getting an excellent configuration for entry-level gamers or those who want to tackle their productivity workload with this hardware.
