Last week, several sources revealed that Bethesda was going to reveal a brand new remaster during its E3 2016 conference, with a listing for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Definitive Edition also surfacing online. All the leaks proved to be true, as an enhanced version of the popular role playing game will indeed be released in the next months.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition, which will release on PC, PlayStation 4 and xbox One on October 28th, won't be a simple remaster, as it will include plenty of new features such as remastered art and effects, volumetric god rays, dynamic depth of field, screen-space reflections and more. Following Fallout 4's example, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Definitive Edition will also support mods on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Those who have purchased The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim complete with all DLC packs on PC will be happy to know that they will be able to get the Special Edition at no additional cost. Unfortunately, it won't be the same for those who purchased either the PlayStation 3 and xbox 360 versions of the game. Not surprising, but stil disappointing.

Following the The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition announcement, Bethesda shared some screenshots as well as the game's cover art. You can check out how much the game will be improved in the new edition right below.
