Last month, Bethesda confirmed that one of their most popular role playing games, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, is going to be released again later this year in a brand new edition dubbed Special Edition on PC and consoles. As the PC version will be available for free to all those who have purchased the original release and all DLC packs, many have been wondering if they might be able to transfer saves from the original version into the Special Edition, and it seems like it will be possible to do so.

A few hours ago, Bethesda's Pete Hines confirmed on Twitter that it might be possible to transfer old saves into The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition on PC manually, so it looks like it won't be an automated process. For obvious reasons, this won't be possible for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions. Additionally, Pete Hines has also confirmed that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition will include all languages that were included in the original release.

Last month, Pete Hines also confirmed that old mods will be compatible with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition. According to the developer of the Skywind overhaul, the Skyrim Script Extender will have to be updated to take advantage of the 64 bit engine, but this should open up plenty of interesting possibilities.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition launches on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in all regions on October 28th. We will keep you updated on the game as soon as more comes in on it, so stay tuned for all the latest news.
