Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake will feature new content not found in previous versions of the two classic JRPGs

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake is setting out to deliver the best versions of the first two entries in the series, featuring not only gorgeous HD-2D visuals, but some new content that modernizes the two games without taking away their identity and makes them way more engaging, as I could appreciate during my time with both during Gamescom. This new content, which I found to work great, has been showcased in a new trailer shared today.

The trailer, which can be watched below, provides an overview of the new content added to both games. It includes new dungeons to explore, a new Scrolls mechanic that allows characters to learn new abilities, which is a much-needed necessity, especially in Dragon Quest I due to the single-playable character, the return of the Mini Medals collecting mechanics, Ocean Floor exploration in Dragon Quest II, and more.

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake launches on October 30, 2025, on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. However, this collection is not the only new release fans of the series can look forward to, as Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, a remake of the seventh entry in the series, is launching early next year on PC and consoles.
