The Cortex-X925 will eventually be replaced by ARM’s Cortex-X930, with the new CPU design expected to be adopted by companies like MediaTek, with Qualcomm likely leveraging the super core for its non-flagship chipsets. The Dimensity 9500 is one of those chipsets that will compete with Apple’s A19 and A19 Pro in lithography, with all three expected to be mass produced on TSMC’s third-generation 3nm process, also known as ‘N3P.’ However, a tipster claims that the Cortex-X930 could surpass Apple’s flagship SoCs that will arrive to the iPhone 17 lineup.
Rumor concerning Cortex-X930 beating Apple’s A19 and A19 Pro is ambiguous, with the tipster not confirming if ARM’s top-end CPU design will be better in performance or efficiency
The unreleased Cortex-X930 ‘could’ beat Apple’s A19 and A19 Pro, according to Weibo tipster Fixed Focus Digital. The unreleased CPU design is expected to be announced later in the year, with ARM’s solution likely getting adopted by the Dimensity 9500. According to a previous specifications rumor, MediaTek’s upcoming flagship SoC will sport a ‘2 + 6’ configuration, with the two cores being the Cortex-X930. Unfortunately, surpassing Apple’s A19 and A19 Pro can have several meanings.
For instance, the tipster does not confirm if the Cortex-X930 will beat Apple’s chipsets in pure performance or have an edge in the efficiency category. The Dimensity 9500’s performance cores were previously said to be tested at a 4.00GHz frequency, with the chipset also reported to support ARM’s SME, or Scalable Matrix Extension, which helps to tackle the more complex workloads more efficiently.

This feature is not supported by the Dimensity 9400, meaning that the Dimensity 9500 could obtain a major multi-core performance bump, with the possibility that it exceeds Apple’s M4 in single-threaded workloads as well. Companies like MediaTek and Qualcomm have made it a priority to exceed the performance capabilities of Apple’s silicon range, but those ambitions have resulted in the efficiency of these chipsets taking a hit.
The A19 and A19 Pro could intentionally be made slower to prioritize battery life, granting victory to MediaTek, though it is too early to comment on these rumors. Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 17 family later this year, with the Dimensity 9500 and Cortex-X930 making their debut, giving us a closer look at their performance and concluding the tipster’s claims as true or false.
