Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is launching on PC on March 19 with a slew of new features not found in the original PlayStation 5 release. As confirmed on the Official PlayStation Blog, the second entry in the series by Kojima Productions will come with ray tracing support to push visual fidelity further, a new difficulty mode and... a chiral cat.
"Players on PC with high-end PC hardware will have the additional option to enable Ray Tracing on Reflections and Ambient Occlusion via additional settings. When enabled, ray-traced reflections are applied on surfaces such as water and tar, while ray-traced ambient occlusion applies ambient lighting effects to scenes, resulting in more realistic shadows in crevices, corners, and between objects. These additional PC options are aimed at players with powerful hardware that want to push visual fidelity beyond the “Very High” graphics settings the game already offers." reads the announcement post. Additionally, ray tracing features are not part of the minimum and recommended PC specifications, so players can fully enjoy the game without them.
Besides ray tracing, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach on PC will feature:
- NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR and Intel XeSS support
- Frame Generation Support
- Uncapped Framerates
- Super Ultrawide (32:9) support for gameplay and Standard Ultrawide (21:9) support for cutscenes
- Mouse and keyboard support for custom keybind mapping
- DualSense integration with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers functionality
- Spatial Sound Support
Rounding up the new features included in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach on PC are a new extreme difficulty that will put your porter skills to the test, new fieldware obtainable by completing “Trapped in a Strange Realm”, a VR training area where you can relive Sam’s confrontations with Neil, and a Chiral Feline, who can visit Sam in his private room aboard the DHV Magellan and appear in Photo Mode as well. These features, alongside standard ultrawide support are also coming to the PlayStation 5 version on March 19.
All the new features above are briefly showcased in a new trailer, which you can find right below. The trailer has some heavy late-game spoilers, so avoid watching it if you haven't completed the game yet.
