A couple of months we reported the announcement of Dead Star, a twin-stick multiplayer shooter for PC & PlayStation 4 from Armature Studio (which is also helping develop ReCore for Xbox One).

A new press release announced that Dead Star is coming to Steam Early Access on December 14, priced at $14.99.

Dead Star is a PvP multiplayer space combat shooter with a fast-paced arcade feel. Choose between 12 different ships, each with a unique set of abilities, as you battle the opposing team in procedurally generated regions of space. Your combat skills and teamwork in 10 vs 10 player matches will determine whether you die in a blast of laser fire or gain infamy as the galaxy’s greatest pilot.

Earn rewards for your success in battle, ranging from cosmetic items such as ship paint styles and pilot portraits, to new technologies that can be used to permanently upgrade your ship’s abilities. To enhance the experience, a new mode known as Escape Run will be available later in Early Access. Escape Run will pit a team of five players against seemingly overwhelming odds as they escort a massive capital ship through a series of live multiplayer matches, creating 10 vs 10 vs 5 chaos.

What's really interesting is that they also confirmed cross-play between PC and PlayStation 4 (which means that the game joins War Thunder, FFXIV and Rocket League in this small but growing group, with Street Fighter V coming up in February). In fact, you can already pre-order it on the PlayStation Store for the same price ($14.99) and get access to the Closed Beta Test, just like Steam Early Access, along with an exclusive PS4 Theme. The PlayStation Store entry also gives more information such as the file size (1.1GB) and the full price once the game launches next year, $19.99, which should be valid for Steam as well.
