Right on the tight schedule Pearl Abyss set since launch, a new patch has gone live for Crimson Desert, continuing to fulfill players' requests by introducing one of the most demanded features by the community: full controller remapping.

Even before Crimson Desert launched, early playtests highlighted how the complex controls were among the biggest issues. While many, myself included, eventually got used to them, they remained rather cumbersome. With patch 1.09, however, these issues are a thing of the past, as the update officially adds a comprehensive controller remapping feature.

The new Crimson Desert patch also adds 30 species of small animals that can be registered as pets, alongside brand-new animations for picking up and putting down certain companions.

However, the most significant gameplay adjustment in the patch is the addition of new skills for Damiane and Oongka. These are equivalent to Kliff's Blinding Flash Finisher and are executed with the same inputs (Heavy Attack while using Blinding Flash). With this addition, Damiane and Oongka feel much better and, most of all, more complete than in the launch version, where they lacked several essential combat and open-world exploration skills.

The Crimson Desert 1.09 patch also fixes several content, controls, combat, and UI issues. This includes a notable graphics fix where shadows of distant objects were not rendering correctly when the Raytraced Sun/Moon Light Shadows option was enabled on PC. Check out the full patch notes for all the details on what is unlikely to be the final major update for Pearl Abyss' successful game.
