China has its very own domestic x86 CPU as well, developed by the manufacturer Zhaoxin, which has seen integration by MAXHUB, a renowned system integrator.

Zhaoxin KX-7000 CPU Sees Integration In An AI-Focused Desktop, Showing Impressive Media Performance

Beijing has been ramping up its compute solutions recently, and the nation is pushing manufacturers like Loongson and Zhaoxin to build CPU products that act as a viable alternative to Western counterparts. Now, MAXHUB has introduced a dedicated 'AI+ desktop' featuring a Zhaoxin KX-7000 processor. This desktop comes with integrated AI-focused features that are entirely reliant on a 'domestic ecosystem'. Interestingly, the KX-7000 processor is China's first x86-focused solution, which can be directly compared to AMD/Intel.

Diving a bit into the specifications of the KX-7000 CPU, it features an 8C/8T configuration built on x86 Century Avenue architecture and a 7nm chiplet design. Interestingly, the CPU design is similar to the LGA 1700 socketed chips from Intel, and both the design and the IHS look very similar, so we know the intention here. More importantly, the KX-7000 CPU is rather an older solution from the firm, and they showcased their KH-5000 server processors, which offered decent specifications relative to options from competitors like Intel.

MAXHUB's AI+ desktop computer is claimed to be a decent machine for professional and AI workloads, and interestingly, features a compact design with a 10-litre volume. While we won't go into the specifics of the build itself, one great element about it is the use of on-device AI. The AI PC offers features like a dedicated AI assistant, intelligent cutout and file conversions, which make the experience a lot more seamless, instead of going to individual third-party applications.

In terms of performance, the MAXHUB's AI+ desktop computer is claimed to play 1080P 30fps and 4K 30fps high-bitrate online videos with decent CPU utilization numbers, showing that the KX-7000 CPU acts decently with media workload Of course, when compared against competitors like Intel or AMD, Zhaoxin is behind, but the key motive here to create an ecosystem that relies entirely on in-house products, and this has apparently happened here.
