OpenAI has been evolving its AI tool ever since its inception and keeps working on advancing the technology by adding new features. Usually, ChatGPT Plus subscribers tend to enjoy more capabilities than free users and have access to greater features. However, this pattern is now changing, with many advancements previously reserved for premium users now being available for the free plan as well. Recently, the DALL-E 3 feature by the company is said to have followed a similar route.
OpenAI is now allowing free users to enjoy the capabilities of the DALL-E 3 model, but there is a limit
DALL-E 3 is an AI model that is used to generate images based on text descriptions. When OpenAI rolled out its DALL-E 3 model in September last year, it garnered quite the attention for coming up with some significant improvements: more detailed images, higher resolution, and better understanding of prompts. While the tool is considered one of the top for AI image generation, it was previously only reserved for ChatGPT Plus users. This might change with the company now announcing a new development.
OpenAI recently took it to X (formerly Twitter) to share their plans of expanding the DALL-E 3 capabilities to ChatGPT-free users, allowing them to create up to two images per day using the tool. As per their post, you only have to give a prompt explaining what kind of image you desire, and the tool will do the rest:
Just ask ChatGPT to create an image for a slide deck, personalize a card for a friend, or show you what something looks like" and it will make it for you.
Although the limitation of two images per day can be a setback for content creators who anticipate using the tool for their creative tasks, it does mark a positive imminent step in opening up such features and tools to the free-tier user base as well.

OpenAI, with its GPT-4o, has brought about some noticeable changes for free users, allowing them to enjoy more features initially reserved for paid subscribers, including image analysis and coding. The free users can even enjoy the latest ChatGPT model, which is said to be its most powerful one yet, and use the platform for their different needs, with only a daily limitation attached to it.
OpenAI, by extending this standout premium feature to free users, is pivoting in a new direction where they are being more inclusive and letting a vast number of users have access to their advanced tools, even if they come with a cap.
