The newly established Paramount Games Studio has unveiled Star Trek: Shadow Frontier, a story-driven third-person action-adventure game in development at Silent Hill 2 remake studio Bloober Team, during the IGN Live Showcase 2026.

Arriving in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC, Star Trek: Shadow Frontier tells the story of Ro Laren, a Bajoran character played by actress Michelle Forbes, who returns to her iconic role from Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Picard. After crashing onto a remote planet dominated by an unusual consciousness, Ro Laren must navigate a landscape that is as stunning as it is deadly.

In classic Star Trek style, Ro’s mission is fueled by a sense of duty and purpose. However, here, each discovery comes with a heavy price. The more she learns, the more she becomes ensnared in a twisted maze where her memories distort and the planet threatens to cut her off from reality. Only by unraveling the enigmas of this bizarre world can Ro hope to confront the shadows of her past, bravely venturing into the depths of darkness like never before.

A planet-wide entity has taken control of the terrain and turns it into a weapon. Creatures born from this environment patrol the area and strike unexpectedly, forcing Ro into frantic battles and narrow escapes. Every encounter will challenge her determination as much as her abilities. She must remain vigilant, observe her surroundings, and decide whether to engage in combat or evade her foes.

The hostile ecosystem constantly endangers Ro’s life. It aims to consume her consciousness, digging deep into her mind and tormenting her with disturbing visions. Environmental dangers and obstacles lie in wait at every turn. Exploration is both her sole route to salvation and a potential path to her downfall. Ro Laren can utilize iconic Star Trek technology to gain an edge, employing the Tricorder to scan and analyze objects and depending on the reliable Phaser to solve puzzles and fend off adversaries.

Bloober Team promised a balanced and diverse gameplay experience that combines exploration, puzzles, combat, and cinematic moments into a captivating, narrative-driven adventure that rewards patience, keen observation, and wise decision-making.

Shawn Kittelsen, SVP, Head of Creative and Production at Paramount Games Studio, said in a statement:

We’ve long admired the way Bloober Team crafts deeply immersive, atmospheric experiences that keep players on the edge of their seats. For Star Trek: Shadow Frontier, it was essential to partner with a studio that could both honor that legacy and push it forward. We have full confidence in Bloober’s ability to deliver a game that does justice to the Star Trek name while bringing something bold and new to the beloved franchise.

Piotr Babieno, CEO of Bloober Team, added:

We’ve been waiting a long time to finally share what we’ve been working on. As lifelong fans of science fiction, Star Trek has always held a special place in our hearts. By combining that passion with what we do best, horror, we’ve partnered with Paramount to create something truly unique: a new adventure set in a beloved universe, enriched with our own signature layer of dark, psychological thriller. We’re genuinely excited about this journey, and our hope is to honor the legacy of Star Trek in a way that feels both respectful yet refreshingly different.

The game is already available for wishlisting on Steam, and the page also includes preliminary PC system requirements:

By the way, yesterday Bloober Team also announced Cronos: Lazarus, a combat-focused DLC coming this Fall to Cronos: The New Dawn.
