AYANEO Starts Indiegogo Campaign for 9-inch OLED NEXT 2 Handheld, Powered by Ryzen AI Max 385/Max+ 395 and Available in Various Configurations

AYANEO has finally announced the official price for its upcoming and most powerful gaming handheld called NEXT 2. It was announced last year, but the company was quite slow in announcing its specs, let alone launching it. NEXT 2 was teased as the most powerful gaming handheld with an "Exclusive" large screen. In November, the company confirmed some of its specifications, particularly related to the display, which comes out as one of the biggest screens on Windows handhelds.

Today, AYANEO has officially announced its detailed specifications along with the prices for each configuration. The AYANEO NEXT 2 is now live on Indiegogo, where backers can take advantage of Early Bird pricing on configurations ranging from 32GB + 1TB up to 128GB + 2TB. As far as the specs go, the NEXT 2 will boast a 9.06" OLED display with up to 165 Hz of refresh rate for a buttery smooth gaming experience. Its unusual resolution of 2400x1504 puts it as a unique product in the gaming handheld category, but it will offer more vivid visuals compared to its competitors.

It will be powered by either the 12-core/24-thread Ryzen AI Max 385 or the flagship Zen 5 Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor. So, the integrated graphics users will get will be based on the configuration they choose. For the 32 GB + 1 TB configuration, the Ryzen AI Max 385 with Radeon 8050S will be the most affordable choice. However, for higher performance, users will have to choose the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 that features an 8-core/16-thread configuration and a powerful RDNA 3.5-based Radeon 8060S integrated graphics. With 40 Compute Units, it's ready to deliver a smooth gaming experience in modern titles, but at a 1504p resolution, it's going to be difficult for the handheld to push the frame rates above 100 in modern intensive titles.

For memory, the configurations include 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB options, featuring LPDDR5X onboard memory modules clocked at up to 8533 MT/s. For storage, users can choose between 1 TB and 2 TB NVMe PCIe 4.0 storage options. The handheld will be powered by a large 116 Wh battery, which is even higher than what we usually see on high-end gaming laptops. This should ensure longer gaming sessions, though it contributes to a heavier overall design, and we are looking at nearly 1.5 Kg (1426 g) handheld.
