Cyprus-based game developer Mundfish has unveiled the fourth and final Atomic Heart DLC. Titled Blood on Crystal, it will be released on April 16 for all platforms (PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S and X).
According to the studio, Atomic Heart fans will experience the "thrilling, high-stakes" conclusion of the first game's narrative in this DLC, in which protagonist P-3 and their comrades must venture deeper than ever before into Facility 3826 to battle CHAR-les and make a final attempt to save humanity from total annihilation. Here's an overview provided by Mundfish:
- Explore the new Wave Platform and the secret Crystal Complex as you uncover the shocking truth behind CHAR-les' sinister plans.
- Face the ultimate challenge as you confront the Polymorphs, a new breed of enigmatic creatures born from CHAR-les's terrible experiments.
- Harnessing the properties of polymers to assume elemental forms, the Polymorphs will force you to adapt your fighting style and make the most of your arsenal on the fly.
- You will encounter the wildest bosses still lurking in Facility 3826, but thankfully, you will have access to the most powerful glove abilities and weapons yet to deal with them.
Mundfish also plans to launch the Ultimate Edition of Atomic Heart in both retail and digital stores. Pre-orders for the limited physical edition, which includes an exclusive SteelBook, are already available from participating retailers, with a release set for March 24. The digital versions will be available from April 16, alongside the release of Blood on Crystal.
The previous three DLCs (Annihilation Instinct, Trapped in Limbo, and Enchantment Under the Sea) are all priced at $10 on Steam, so it's fair to assume Blood on Crystal will cost the same. Of course, if you purchased the Gold or Premium Edition back when the game launched, you'll get Blood on Crystal just like with the other three expansion pieces.
Atomic Heart originally debuted in February 2023, which means that the studio released four story DLCs in a little over three years. That's in the middle of working on the sequel, Atomic Heart 2 (which is a lot more open and RPG-like), as well as a spin-off MMO shooter titled The Cube. The studio has clearly invested significantly into the IP after the success of the first game, which was already pretty good at launch and has since received three years of updates and DLCs. In May 2025, Mundfish claimed that Atomic Heart had registered over 10 million players, though the game's inclusion in Game Pass must be taken into account when weighing this figure.
