ASUS is planning to launch its new Z790-AYW OC WIFI motherboard, offering some exceptional overclocking capabilities.

ASUS's Newest Z790-AYW OC WIFI Motherboard Achieves A Whopping 11,150 MT/s Memory Speeds Under Liquid Nitrogen Cooling, Coming To DIY Market Soon

ASUS already has a Z790-AYW WIFI "PRIME" series motherboard variant up and running, but the French outlet Overclocking.com reports that the firm is looking to launch another model with the same specifications and design, only this time, ASUS wants to focus on memory overclocking capabilities to make a stride in this segment.

During the Computex 2024 showcase, ASUS had a unit of their Z790-AYW WIFI motherboard with only two DIMM slots onboard, which was a trim down from the original model, but for reasons we'll discuss later on. ASUS plans to add an "OC" suffix with the naming scheme for the newer model.

The Z790-AYW OC WIFI "PRIME" motherboard itself supports Intel's LGA 1700 socket. The OC model features two DIMM slots along with supporting DDR5-8400+ (OC) memory. ASUS has managed to deal with the memory channels much more efficiently, and some results given by the firm indeed justify this claim since they can squeeze out 11550 MT/s of memory speeds by reducing the DIMM slots and of course, utilizing the capabilities of liquid nitrogen cooling.

Well, the motive behind ASUS's Z790-AYW WIFI OC motherboard isn't certain yet, but the source does claim that the release is in response to MSI's Z790MPOWER motherboard, which will offer exceptional overclocking capabilities at a bargain price. MSI has also gone with the dual DIMM slot configuration for optimal memory and OC support, so it's only sensible for ASUS to opt for a similar route to provide competition to MSI.

South Korean overclocker, SAFEDISK, also mentioned the great memory OC capabilities of this new motherboard as highlighted below:

In terms of pricing and release dates, we are currently unaware of one; however, since ASUS's Z790-AYW WIFI OC plans to compete with MSI's counterpart, we can expect the price to lie within $200-$250, given that MSI's Z790MPOWER has an MSRP of $199 US.
