The ProArt RTX 5090 is inspired by the Founders Edition, but offers a 2.5-slot thickness, and a premium cooling solution.
ASUS Quietly Rolls Out ProArt GeForce RTX 5090 32 GB GDDR7 OC, Featuring 2.5-Slot Design, Vapor Chamber Cooling, Liquid Metal for Enhanced Thermals
The GeForce RTX 5090 Founders Edition got popular because of its 2-slot design that had a double-vented backplate for easier airflow. ASUS adopted the same approach for its ProArt GeForce RTX 5090 OC and delivered a slightly thicker, but more powerful graphics card. While ASUS already introduced it at the CES this year, the company silently released the GPU recently, as can be seen on the official website.
The ProArt RTX 5090 isn't the first in the ProArt series, but the lineup is still relatively new compared to other tiers. The ProArt RTX 5090 is special for its resemblance to the Founders Edition, featuring a Double-Vented backplate that allows increased airflow, thanks to the two large axial-tech fans mounted on top. Apart from the similar cooler design, the ProArt also uses Liquid Metal on the GPU chip to enhance cooling.
It is 0.5 slot thicker than the FE, but is still relatively thinner than most RTX 5090 editions out there. Interestingly, ASUS kept the same connector location and orientation on the ProArt RTX 5090 as the FE, making it one of the closest to the FE in design. However, there are some small changes as well, such as the inclusion of a Dual BIOS switch and a USB Type-C port, which can be handy for some displays. This port will be particularly convenient for connecting portable displays that often have USB Type-C ports.
The Dual BIOS switch allows switching between the P (Performance) and Q (Quiet) Modes based on requirements. As for the specifications, the ProArt RTX 5090 brings a 2482 MHz frequency in the Default mode, and up to 2512 MHz in the OC mode, which is higher than the Founders Edition. Except for that, there are no differences in the specifications as usual.
ASUS hasn't revealed any information on its pricing, but given how most RTX 5090s are selling for over $4,000, we don't expect it to be cheaper.
