Intel's 800 chipset contains more than just the Z890 motherboards and the upcoming series will feature the B860 chipset. Intel hasn't made any official announcement regarding its launch, but we have a user showing off a brand-new B860 motherboard in an unboxing YouTube video by PCEkspertTV.

One should keep in mind that both AMD and Intel have the same naming convention for their budget segment motherboards, i.e., the B860. But they will have different sockets, of course, and there will be more chipsets on each side apart from it. The particular model leaked in the video is the ASUS ROG Strix B860-A Gaming WiFi, which is a successor to the ROG Strix B760-A Gaming WiFi, and an alternative to the more expensive ROG Strix Z890-A Gaming WiFi.

This one won't be able to overclock the CPU, unlike the Z890-A Gaming WiFi and therefore, caters to the demands of users with non-overclockable Core Ultra 200S series processors. As shown in the unboxing video, the motherboard features decently big heatsinks over the VRM chipset and has heatsinks over both top and bottom m.2 slots.

While the heatsinks bring the Strix branding, it's not clear whether the I/O shroud has RGB lighting or not, but it looks like the ROG logo will light up when the motherboard is turned on.

There are 4x DIMM slots, two PCI-E x16 slots with one slot using steel armor for more strength. For storage, expect it to feature 4x M.2 slots and 4x SATA ports. Compared to the previous gen motherboard, the location of the CMOS battery has been changed and now resides under the primary PCI-E x16 slot, which may make it difficult to take off the battery even if the GPU is a dual slot.

There are a couple of fans, RGB/ARGB, and front panel headers, but there seems to be no option for onboard troubleshooting except for the DEBUG LEDs. At the I/O, there are a total of 10x USB ports, including two USB-C 20G ports. For connectivity, there is Wi-Fi 7 and 2.5G LAN. Besides them, you will find BIOS Flashback and CMOS Clear buttons as well.

We don't know about its pricing and detailed specs yet. The B860 motherboards should arrive in early 2025 along with the second batch of Arrow Lake desktop CPUs.
