ASUS's high-end ROG Maximus Z790 Formula motherboard has leaked and comes with a water-cooled design in a beautiful white-colored exterior.

ASUS's Formula Returns With ROG Maximus Z790 Series, New White Design With Water-Cooling Support

The first images of the ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Formula motherboard have surfaced, courtesy of leaker @wxnod, and they show the elegance of white motherboards, especially when ASUS does it, for its brand-new water-cooled premium design. The ASUS Formula series may not be the flagship of the lineup but it is regarded as an enthusiast product and with the preliminary prices that we've seen of the APEX ENCORE model, this variant should easily cost around $1000 US.

Starting off with the overall looks, the ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Formula motherboard upholds the design language from its previous-gen counterpart without any big changes. That is fine, though; since the lineup has been refined to its best shape, the Z790 Formula is categorized as one of the best-looking ones.

Moving to the specifications, the ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Formula retains its ATX form factor and gets a dual 8-pin connector configuration for the CPU socket which will be able to support Intel's 14th Gen Raptor Lake Refresh Desktop CPUs out of the box.

Moreover, you will get four DIMM slots supporting DDR5 memory with some insanely fast speeds & up to 192 GB capacities and two PCIe Gen5 x16 slots. The motherboard also has a wide array of M.2 slots which are featured below the heatsinks. ASUS will include its "ROG Water-Cooling Zone" mechanism on the motherboard, which users can attach to their existing custom-loop setups for better thermal performance on the VRMs. A big upgrade with this motherboard is the change to WiFi 7 standard, replacing the WiFI-6E from the previous Z690 variant. Once again, ASUS has an 8-pin onboard connector which can be used to feed additional power to the board.

The ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Formula motherboard hasn't seen an official launch yet, but it has been sent to reviewers for preliminary testing. We could see it with Intel's launch of Raptor Lake Refresh CPUs, which is expected by October 16th. ASUS also shared a teaser image that shows off the four new Z790 refresh motherboards:
