ASUS Unveils ROG Strix OLED XG27ACDMS: A 27-inch OLED 1440p@280Hz Gaming Monitor for Nearly $550 in China

OLED gaming monitors are significantly costlier than LCD panels like IPS or TN. ASUS being one of the major vendors of high-end OLED monitors, has one of the most expensive OLED displays in its inventory, which usually start at $700, except for the ROG Strix XG27AQDMG, which you will find listed for $650+ at most retailers.

This particular model was launched last year and offered third-gen WOLED panel, boasting 1440p resolution and up to 240Hz refresh rate. ASUS has quietly prepared another iteration of the same monitor, known as ROG Strix OLED XG27ACDMS, featuring the latest QD-OLED technology but offering a higher refresh rate of 280Hz at 1440p resolution. The monitor has been launched in China for a price tag of 3,999 Yuan or US$558, making it the cheapest ROG OLED gaming monitor.

This is the regular price but the monitor is also available with subsidy in some regions at a price tag of just 3,400 Yuan, which translates to around US$474, making it the cheapest available OLED 2K gaming monitor on the market. With modern specifications like True 10-bit color depth, 99% DCI-P3 color gamut, 0.03ms of response time, and color accuracy of Delta E<2, the ROG Strix XG27ACDMS has it all.

Compared to the XG27AQDMG, it also adds the NEO Proximity Sensor, which is a new feature that turns the screen to black when the user moves away from the screen. This helps it protect the display from image burn-in. Modern OLED displays are now becoming better at eliminating image burn-ins and with such technologies, these can go on for several years without having noticeable burn-in effects.

However, the ROG Strix XG27ACDMS does come with a 3-year warranty, which includes panel burn-in coverage. As far as other specifications are concerned, it's almost identical to the previous model but has small differences here and there, including connectivity as the XG27ACDMS is now equipped with a USB C (DP Alt mode) port as well. We don't know when this model will arrive in other parts of the world as ASUS hasn't officially made such details public.
