ASUS is bringing AMD Ryzen AI MAX & Ryzen AI 400 to more mainstream gamers with its TUF Gaming A14 laptop lineup.

ASUS's AMD Ryzen AI MAX & Ryzen AI 400-Powered TUF Gaming A14 Laptops Offer Great Mainstream Value In A Portable 14-Inch Design

AMD's Strix Halo or Ryzen AI MAX processors have so far been available on high-end laptops such as ASUS's ROG lineup. These offer impressive capabilities, but their higher pricing means that they are out of reach for the majority of gamers.

This is why ASUS has decided to introduce its new TUF Gaming A14 line of laptops, which feature top-tier Strix Halo CPUs in more mainstream products.

The ASUS TUF Gaming A14 (FA401EA) comes packed with the AMD Ryzen AI MAX+ 392 CPU, which is a new addition to the Strix Halo family. This chip features 12 cores and 24 threads, but retains the same 40 CU iGPU configuration as the 16-core Ryzen AI MAX+ 395. This allows ASUS to retain strong value and performance. The Radeon 8060S iGPU has already showcased great gaming capabilities, and with a TDP support of up to 95W (85W Turbo by Default) on the TUF A14, you can expect solid performance.

The laptop also retains its slim design with a 14" display, a maximum thickness of 1.69cm, and a maximum weight of 1.48 Kgs. The display itself is a 16:10 aspect ratio panel with a 2.5K resolution, up to 165Hz (3.0 ms) refresh rate, 400 nits of brightness, and AMD Freesync support. You also get dual NVMe (2280) slots, and memory comes in the form of either 32 GB or 64 GB of LPDDR5x (onboard). There's a 73Whr battery, and you get a Type-C charger rated at 100W. IO includes Wi-Fi 6E USB 4.0 Type-C ports, an FHD IR camera, and a large 5.8 inch Glass touchpad.

Besides these, ASUS is also utilising an optimized cooling solution with inward-flow technology that houses two fans and a large copper heatpipe solution for the Strix Halo SoC. The laptop is also rated Military MIL-STD-810 standard, ensuring long-lasting durability.

Besides the Strix Halo model, ASUS is also offering the ASUS TUF Gaming A14 (FA401GM) with the AMD Ryzen AI 9 465 "Gorgon Point" CPU. This offers 10 cores and 20 threads based on the Zen 5 architecture, and while it does feature an RDNA 3.5 iGPU with 12 CUs, the graphics side is primarily handled by the RTX 5060, which has a maximum TDP of 115W in manual mode, and the laptop can reach a combined power of up to 135W. Most features remain the same, & this should also make for an impressive entry-level gamer laptop.

Based on the response to its TUF Gaming A14 laptop, ASUS might also think about adding the Ryzen AI MAX+ 388 to its laptop lineup, which should be another great option for laptop gamers on a budget.
