Google announced Assistant with Bard recently, and while it looked like a really solid feature with the ability to use AI within your Google Assistant. Now, some new evidence has surfaced that suggests that the new feature will be limited to all Pixel devices powered by the Tensor chipset, along with the Galaxy S23 and the Galaxy S24.

Assistant with Bard looks really cool, but it might only be limited to modern-day smartphones

The evidence was found in the Google app beta v14.41, and based on the information from that beta, it appears that the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, alongside the Galaxy S24, will be the first devices to gain this feature. Older Tensor-powered Pixels and Galaxy S23 are also in line for the new Assistant with Bard.

Now, for those who don't know, the Assistant with Bard started rolling out to select testers only recently. Google will expand the feature to other users soon, as well, and this will probably be a part of Google Labs once it rolls out to more users. However, it has become clear that AI assistants are now dependent on hardware prowess more than ever, and that is the reason why companies are making sure that their new chipsets are good with AI performance, too.

Take the new Exynos 2400. Samsung explicitly mentioned how the new chipset has better performance in AI than previous chipsets, and the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will also focus on AI performance. Needless to say, it has become a prominent factor that we are going to get more AI-oriented features in the future, and with the Pixel 8 series also heavily focusing on AI, it should not come as a surprise that Assistant with Bard requires processors that have some degree of AI chops.
