Ubisoft has provided a major update on what's coming next in the Assassin's Creed franchise as we near the one-year anniversary of its last major release, Assassin's Creed Shadows. Firstly, we can finally stop calling the Assassin's Creed Black Flag Remake a 'rumoured' game, because Ubisoft has finally officially confirmed the remake to be on its way and that it is indeed titled 'Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced,' which was the title that leaked in December 2025.

In a blog post on the official Ubisoft website titled 'Assassin's Creed: Into 2026,' recently named head of AC content, Jean Guesdon, appears in a short video that reiterates how long he's been working on the AC franchise, and that part of his new role is maintaining "a clear, consistent dialogue about our vision."

Guesdon doesn't actually dig into what's coming to the AC franchise in the video; that's left for the blog post to do. That's where we finally get an official look at the Black Flag Remake with our first taste of official artwork for it seen above, and some updates on other AC projects we know are in the pipeline.

Firstly, it should be noted that even when Ubisoft finally shows confirmation of the Black Flag Remake, a project that they threatened to sue the actor who plays Edward Kenway over for talking about what has arguably been the worst-kept open-secret in the industry for years, Ubisoft still can't just come out and say, 'Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is on the way,' or something to that effect.

It doesn't even name the project in the blog post. Instead, it shares the artwork and writes what is seemingly supposed to be a tongue-in-cheek note that reads, "Speculation around Assassin's Creed is not new, but it's worth repeating: 'Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.Well, except in this case, some whispers have a little more wind in their sails. Keep your spyglass on the horizon," above the official artwork for Black Flag Resynced.

It's frankly more than a little foolish, but we've come to expect foolishness from Ubisoft, so it's also par for the course.

With regard to other AC projects, we got a small update on Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe, which Guesdon says will be "quiet for a little longer" as the team he's now leading is "taking the time to deliver on its ambitious vision." He does, however, add that players can expect "a unique, darker, narrative-driven Assassin's Creed experience, set during a pivotal moment in history."

The multiplayer AC title in the works, Codename Invictus, also gets a mention. It's being developed by the For Honor team at Ubisoft Montreal, and it'll be a PvP experience that apparently "isn't quite what the rumors have suggested."

The blog post also adds that it is "progressing steadily with a test and learn approach" and is "a new approach to multiplayer in the franchise," so anyone who may have been hoping Invictus was a revival of the multiplayer mode that arrived in Assassin's Creed Brotherhood can unfortunately give up that hope.

The other AC project Ubisoft names is Assassin's Creed Jade, the mobile game currently in the works. It just gets a mention; there's no actual update on how development is progressing with it, and before the lacklustre tongue-in-cheek approach to the Black Flag Resynced news, Ubisoft adds that it has "several other projects currently in the works, all at different stages of development."

As for what AC fans can look forward to that will for sure arrive in 2026, as soon as tomorrow, a 60FPS update is being pushed for Assassin's Creed Unity on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and Unity will also be free to try on Xbox from April 2-6.

The other bit of AC news included in the blog is a small mention of the upcoming live-action TV series adaptation from Netflix, which we can expect to hear more about "very soon."

Overall, the best part about this news is that we can stop talking about the Black Flag Remake as an unconfirmed title and officially mark it as one of the projects we know Ubisoft has coming down the pipeline, even though everyone and their mother has already known for years. The worst part is the lack of any concrete dates or even information about these projects. It's nice to know things are still moving forward, but it'll be nicer to start seeing something tangible.
