The Advanced PG27QFW2A monitor brings 400 Hz refresh rate to the 2K resolution on an IPS panel.
ASRock Debuts 2K QHD IPS Monitor With Up To 400 Hz Refresh Rate; Also Launches the PG32QFT QHD IPS Monitor Monitor for the Budget Segment
Popular hardware and peripheral manufacturer, ASRock, has introduced a brand new mid-range gaming display under the Phantom Gaming series, featuring up to 400 Hz refresh rate for a smoother gaming experience. This is the Advanced PG27QFW2A gaming monitor that boasts a 27-inch display size with a fast IPS panel. Usually, traditional IPS panels work at around 4ms response time, but the fast IPS panel-equipped PG27QFW2A has a very low response time of just 1 ms GtG.
The monitor is positioned between budget IPS monitors and high-end gaming monitor offerings to cater to the demands of enthusiasts who would like to have great viewing angles, good color reproduction, smooth gameplay, and modern gaming features to enhance the visual quality. The PG27QFW2A uses a flat IPS display that brings a combination of competitive features and a gorgeous design that performs well and looks great on the desk. ASRock says the AlienTechElegance design helps the monitor "captivate" with its unique design and is inspired by alien civilizations.
The monitor boasts a wide color gamut, including color spaces such as 99% DCI-P3 and 132% sRGB for vibrant colors. It's also VESA DisplayHDR 400 compatible, which means sharper and more detailed image quality than conventional IPS panels. Thanks to AMD FreeSync Premium technology, the PG27QFW2A will offer a wonderful and pleasant gaming experience by reducing screen tears mid-game. Moreover, several proprietary technologies are available to customize the viewing experience as per needs.
It's also one of the handful of gaming monitors equipped with a Phantom Gaming WiFi antenna to boost signal strength. The stand itself is highly ergonomic in design, allowing users to adjust the monitor as per their needs through height adjustments, tilt, pivot, and swivel. For connectivity, it brings 2x USB Type A ports in a dedicated hub along with a Type B port. A 3.5mm jack is also available for connecting headphones, and for display, 2x HDMI 2.1 ports, and a single DP 1.4 port are available behind.
ASRock also launched another cheaper offering called PG32QFT, which is a QHD monitor, but with a bigger 32-inch screen size. It's capped at up to 180 Hz refresh rate, and looks pretty much like the PG27QFW2A, except that it has some downgraded features. ASRock hasn't disclosed information on the pricing and availability of these monitors yet, but we expect the PG27QFW2A to be more expensive than the 32-inch variant and could cost easily above $300.
