With the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max just around the proverbial corner, and Apple already reducing the production cadence of its iPhone 17 lineup to cater to the upcoming Pro variants, we have officially entered the leaks bonanza season.
In keeping with this divulgatory trend, the latest supply chain-sourced tidbit has revealed a few juicy details about the battery capacities of Apple's iPhone 18 Pro Max variants.
Apple is increasing the size of the battery within the eSIM variant of the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro Max by 6 percent to 5,425mAh, while the generic physical SIM card-bearing variant will get a more modest 5,235mAh one
The tipster @fireuniverse8 has just posted a Weibo-sourced screenshot, detailing that the eSIM variant of the Apple iPhone Pro Max will sport a 5,425mAh battery, while its physical SIM card-bearing counterpart is presumably all set to go with a more modest 5,235mAh one. This contrasts with the 5,088mAh battery that the eSIM variant of the iPhone 17 Pro Max currently sports, while the physical SIM card-bearing variant is relegated to a 4,823mAh one.
Meanwhile, we detailed recently that the iPhone 18 Pro duo will reportedly sport a massive vapor chamber. What's more, the central pill-shaped cutout will now house only the front camera and the Face ID scanner, with the IR flooder moving to the side, and possibly beneath the screen. This arrangement should allow Apple to decrease the size of the cutout and the resulting Dynamic Island, settling a long-running debate about its exact dimensions.
Of course, we already know that Apple's upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will sport a 48MP triple-camera setup, replete with a variable-aperture main camera, an ultra-wide sensor with enhanced optical image stabilization, and a periscope telephoto sensor, all housed within a heftier camera plateau.
Moreover, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will come equipped with Samsung's M16 LTPO+ OLED tech, which is a native 10-bit panel that swaps out blue fluorescent OLED material for blue phosphorescent material, entailing a meaningful jump in efficiency that is further bolstered by the display's ability to dynamically adjust its refresh rate, notching it up to 120Hz for gaming or smooth scrolling and bringing it all the way down to 1Hz when viewing a static image.
Additionally, the iPhone 18 Pro duo will come equipped with Apple's new C2 modem that unlocks support for 5G mmWave as well as a host of satellite-connectivity-related features.
Also, the iPhone 18 Pro and its Pro Max companion will come in four distinct color options: Dark Gray, Dark Cherry, Light Blue, and Silver. And, to avoid the color fading issue that has plagued the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, Apple will use a new approach to refine the aluminum for the frame, which involves "lowering the fusion point of the mixture and preventing the formation of a resin structure on the electrode surface," unlocking enhanced corrosion resistance.
Finally, do note that the iPhone 18 Pro is expected to start retailing at $1,399 vs. the $1,099 price of the base iPhone 17 Pro.
