Apple Watch SE 3 to feature a new platic design

Apple has a lot in store for users this year, including the launch of the more affordable iPhone SE 4, which is expected to undergo a major redesign. The company is also planning to redesign another 'SE' product this year, which has remained the same way since its launch. According to recent reports, Apple is planning to redesign the Apple Watch SE this year and we can safely speculate that the wearable will look a lot like the flagship models, but with a plastic body.

Apple Watch SE 3 is coming with a new look, possibly with a plastic build like the iPhone 5c

Mark Gurman states in his latest Power On newsletter that Apple is working to redesign the Apple Watch SE among many new products it has planned for this year. While the analyst did not share any specific details related to the design, the SE model could take cues from the standard and comparatively more expensive models. However, we already know the key design details related to the company's Apple Watch SE 3 and how it will be different from the current version.

Gurman stated back in September of last year that the Apple Watch SE could feature a plastic casing similar to Apple's iPhone 5c lineup from more than a decade ago. This also means that we can expect the company to offer the budget Apple Watch in various color options to create more appeal. Moreover, Apple could also market the device for kids as a standalone device. While the company's motives are a mystery at this stage, it is believed that the company has also faced some "cost and quality challenges" if it sees fit to shift from aluminum to plastic.

Nonetheless, the analyst has not negated prior rumors and claims that the company is moving ahead with the project. Apple released the current iteration of the Apple Watch SE in September of 2022, which was the perfect companion to the iPhone SE 3. The company is now expected to launch the iPhone SE 4 in the Spring, and it would not be wrong to presume that the forthcoming Apple Watch SE will be an ideal match. This is because the iPhone SE 4 is also undergoing a major redesign and is expected to look like the iPhone 14.

If the company does go ahead with a plastic version this time around, we can expect the price to be a bit lower than the previous version. While that remains to be seen, the company will also upgrade the internals of the wearable, possibly with an S9 or S10 chip. We will keep you posted on the latest, so keep an eye out.
