Apple Watch Series 9, SE, and Ultra sales

The Apple Watch has served many users with its health and activity tracking capabilities, with the Ultra variant focusing on additional and dedicated features for professionals, athletes, and trainers. The company is now developing new versions of the Apple Watch, but the Ultra has proved to be more popular than the company's budget SE variant.

Apple Watch Series 9 takes the top spot in total Apple Watch sales in the United States, while the 'SE' struggles to keep up with the 'Ultra'

According to a new report published by CIRP, the Apple Watch Ultra is more popular than the Apple Watch SE, and it might not come as a surprise to many as it does boast more high-end features than the latter. Given the fact that the Apple Watch SE is significantly cheaper, users still want the 'Ultra' variant. The report by the Consumer Intelligence Research Partners or CIRP shows how each model of the wearable is performing in the market.

The Apple Watch Series 9 grabbed the most attention in the market as it topped the list with 43 percent of total sales in the United States. The Apple Watch Series 8 took 19 percent of the total sales, which is the predecessor to the current version. Apple Watch Series 9 and Series 8 account for almost two thirds of the total sales in the region, but it is surprising to see that the 'Ultra' managed to beat the SE in the market.

Since the Apple Watch SE sits well below the 'Ultra' line, it makes sense for the company to make further changes to it while reducing the price of the device. It was reported last week that Apple plans to introduce a hard plastic version of the Apple Watch, as it aims to target the younger audience and parents. We believe that the company will also reduce the price of the wearable to lure users, but there are no details available on the matter.

The Apple Watch Ultra scored 9 percent of the total sales, and the Ultra 2 scored 11 percent, compared to only 12 percent of the SE. It can be seen that the Apple Watch SE sales are significantly lower, which could have something to do with the cut-down feature set. It would make sense for Apple to change the target audience of wearables, which could result in higher sales.

It can also be observed that the mid-range models, the Series 8 and the Series 9, are taking most of the attention away from the SE lineup. The Apple Watch Ultra is the company's highest-end model, but it also comes with a hefty price tag, which is one of the reasons why its numbers are lower than those of the standard variants.
