Apple is leading the charge towards sustainability as the company today has announced a "major acceleration" of its promise, which will include using recycled material in a lot of devices. Based on the company's new pledge, it seems like sustainability is being taken seriously, to be honest. The company something has been working really hard to ensure that it leaves the least amount of carbon footprint, and the new vision that the company has makes one think that removing the charger from the box was just a tiny step.

So what's new this time around? Apple has pledged that all the batteries the company will design will be made out of 100% recycled cobalt. At the same time, all the magnets found in devices will be made using 100 percent recycled rare earth elements, and last but not least, all the PCB (printed circuit boards) found in Apple devices will be using recycled gold plating and tin soldering.
Another step that Apple has taken is that it has started using augmented reality (AR) systems. These systems are going to help the company's recycling partners have an easier time disassembling various Apple devices, all thanks to video imagery that will be projected directly onto the work surface. I do understand that this might be confusing for some people but think of it as that scene from the original Iron Man (2008) where Tony Stark starts drawing up the concept of his Mark II suit. While Apple is not making manned suits, I do like how this implementation is done because it will help the engineers have a much easier time disassembling the devices.
Last but not least, Apple has also talked about how by 2025, it will completely stop using plastics in its packaging. Instead, the company will be going for fiber alternatives to screen films, wraps, and foam. 96% of the packaging is already plastic-free, and the company is working on ensuring that whatever is left is also taken care of.
Although it might look like a rudimentary statement, I am honestly really happy that Apple is taking such steps to ensure that the environment is in a much better condition.
