Apple reached a new milestone by crossing the $3 trillion barrier for the first time since August of this year after its shares climbed 2 percent on Tuesday, closing at $193.42. The company secured the new record despite its fiscal 2023 revenue being lower than the one prior. However, as the technology traverses into a nascent market with the Apple Vision Pro, new challenges await the firm in 2024.
Apple briefly tapped the $3 trillion mark back in December 2022
As reported by CNBC, Apple’s stock hit an all-time high on July 31 and remains the most valuable publicly traded stock for a U.S. firm. While there were some hiccups experienced this year, the report states that Apple’s stock price has risen by over 48 percent, with investors seeing the California-based firm as a ‘fortress with significant cash flow.’ Unfortunately, despite the company’s achievements, nothing is ever completely positive, and the iPhone maker is not immune to a slowing market, with its biggest revenue generator seeing a drop in the last few quarters.
The situation in China has not improved either, a region that holds immense significance for Apple as it is the largest smartphone market by volume. Additionally, Huawei’s comeback complicates matters for the company, as it is estimated to ship around 100 million smartphones in 2024. These problems will make the company’s investors nervous, but Apple has provided assurance in its Q4 2023 earnings that iPhone demand in China will continue to remain strong.
Then again, the fiscal 2023 revenue has witnessed a 3 percent drop, with Apple generating $383.29 billion, and given Huawei’s unstoppable momentum, that figure could drop further next year. Apple has also warned that it does not expect annual revenue growth in the December quarter, which holds paramount importance for the company as it is regarded as the holiday quarter, and there are a record number of iPhone activations during this period.
Demand for the iPhone 15 continues to remain, particularly for the ‘Pro’ versions. To help maintain those shipments, Apple is expected to bring more high-end features to the non-Pro iPhone 16 members next year.
