An M5 Max MacBook Pro Price Observer Noticed That Apple Hiked An Additional $1,000 On The Top-End Configuration After Its Gut-Wrenching Announcement

Price observer believes Apple introduced another $1,000 hike on the M5 Max MacBook Pro

Apple dropped a massive bomb on consumers when it was forced to raise the prices of several of its hardware, including Macs, as the company tried its level best to keep the rising RAM and storage costs at bay. Unfortunately, the inevitable has come to pass, but the worst isn’t over, because an individual closely monitoring the M5 Max MacBook Pro’s prices has noticed that, aside from the previous price hike, Apple has made the 16-inch’s maximum configuration now $1,000 more expensive. For those that’ll actually make use of that 8TB SSD and 128GB of unified memory, we have some terrible news.

Only yesterday, the observer says that the top-end M5 Max MacBook Pro configuration was listed on Apple’s website for $9,199; now, it’s a 5-figure affair

A second price hike was noticed by Redditor “Hovscorpion,” who claims that he has been noticing how much these machines cost since June 25. Only yesterday, the M5 Max sporting an 18-core CPU, 40-core GPU, nano-texture display, 8TB SSD, and 128GB of unified RAM was available on Apple’s website for $9,199, as seen in the image below. Now, the exact same configuration for the 16-inch MacBook Pro will set you back $10,149, a $950 difference.

Those who bit the bullet earlier and made a sale prior to the price hike are some of the most fortunate individuals you’ll find in Apple’s community, with one person successfully saving nearly $3,000 on the maxed-out configuration just days before the dreaded announcement. Sadly, not everyone was lucky, especially those who had to pay the sum of a used car to get their hands on a souped-up MacBook Pro.

Despite the $950 difference for the same configuration, the new 5-figure price of the M5 Max MacBook Pro was spotted shortly after the price hike

Given how John Gruber from Daring Fireball mentioned on June 25 that the top-end 16-inch M5 Max MacBook Pro costs $10,149, it’s puzzling to see why Hovscorpion witnessed varying figures in his own investigation. In the Reddit thread, some commenters believe that Apple was applying a supplemental price bump in some U.S. regions instead of showing the full amount.

This could be the reason why Hovscorpion was spotting a substantial difference between the same configurations. Unfortunately, we doubt this will make a dent in Apple’s decision, as these price hikes are here to stay.
