Three iPhones in bronze and purple colors, featuring triple rear cameras, laid flat with the Apple logo visible on their back panels.

Tech-related tipsters are infamous for making a mountain out of a molehill on the flimsiest of semantics. Over the past few weeks, a relentless back-and-forth ensued vis-à-vis the size of the pill-shaped cutout and the associated Dynamic Island on the Apple iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max.

Thankfully, that debate has largely settled in favor of a smaller Dynamic Island. And, along the way, we've also received an intriguing tidbit about the iPhone 18 Pro duo's new 'Dark Cherry' color option.

Apple iPhone 18 Pro will likely get a smaller Dynamic Island after all, along with an intriguing new 'Dark Cherry' color option

As per a MacWorld source, the upcoming Apple iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will sport a smaller Dynamic Island. Critically, this reduction does not appear to be a function of a smaller pill-shaped cutout within the display panel, with previous rumors having consistently alluded to the Face ID module moving beneath the display.

Instead, this appears to be more of a software-based tweak, where the size of the Dynamic Island is calibrated to shrink when it's not showing Live Activities.

Also, the iPhone 18 Pro duo will likely come in the following color options:

  1. Dark Cherry (Pantone 6076) - a very subdued color similar in hue to what is known as wine red, replacing the current-gen iPhone 17 Pro's Cosmic Orange as the new headline color option for the upcoming series.
  2. Light Blue (Pantone 2121) - resembles the Mist Blue color option for the iPhone 17 lineup.
  3. Silver (Pantone 427C)
  4. Dark Gray (Pantone 426C)

Interestingly, the source says that the gap between the camera island and the glass cutout at the rear of the iPhone 18 Pro duo will be somewhat reduced. We already know that Apple is likely to do away with the two-tone look that appears at the rear of the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max.

Elsewhere, the source reiterates many of the same details that are already known about Apple's upcoming foldable iPhone, tentatively dubbed the iPhone Ultra. The foldable is likely to sport a rear dual camera setup, a selfie camera on the outer display, and another camera in the upper-left corner of the inner display. Also, the foldable reportedly resembles an iPad mini in its unfurled state. When folded, it bears a thickness of just 4.7mm.
