The Bigger Form Factor

The iPhone 16 Pro and the Pro Max are now ever so slightly bigger than their predecessors, making them the biggest iPhones Apple has launched to date. In comparison, the iPhone 16 Pro is 149.6mm in height and 71.45mm in width, which makes it longer and wider than the iPhone 15 Pro. The display has been bumped up from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches, which we believe is the perfect size for a Pro-level device.

The iPhone 16 Pro Max, on the other hand, is 163.0mm in height and 77.58mm in width while retaining the same thickness as its predecessor. The display size has been increased from 6.7 inches to 6.9 inches, which is the biggest the company has ever offered on the iPhone. It also features better thermals to keep the device cool and the new titanium finish plays a major role to boost 20 percent more efficiency.

The Same But Different Design

While the general design language has been kept the same by the company for the iPhone 16 Pro models, the company made sure that there are some new features that users would find novel. The device comes with the Grade 5 titanium build as the previous models, but it now comes in a glossy finish instead of matte.

On the back, the company used the same dual-ion exchange glass process which gives it a frosty look and feel. On the back, you will see the same squared camera housing that contains the new and upgraded sensors. On the front, you will see the Dynamic Island, which has been kept the same size since the launch of the iPhone 14 Pro models. The company would possibly use the same cutout size for another couple of years.

Camera Hardware Upgraded

The iPhone 16 Pro cameras now come with a new anti-reflective coating which would improve the flare issue on the iPhone. Keeping up with the reports, the company has upgraded the ultra-wide lens on the device, which is now 48MP instead of 12MP, allowing users to capture the same amount of detail as the main camera. The main camera, on the other hand, is the same as the iPhone 15 Pro models.

Another major camera improvement is the arrival of the telephoto lens on the smaller 6.3-inch iPhone 16 Pro, a feature that was exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro Max last year. The telephoto lens would allow both models of the iPhone 16 Pro models to offer 5x optical zoom and 25x digital zoom.

Faster Chip For The Pro Models

As it was previously reported, the iPhone 16 Pro models come with a new A18 Pro chip, possibly the fastest chip on any smartphone, but we will wait for the tests to confirm the claims. Both iPhone 16 Pro models feature the same chip and compared to the standard A18 chips, it contains a 6-core GPU cores for better graphical output. Additionally, the chip also comes with an improved 16-core Neural Engine with 17 percent more memory bandwidth, which will be crucial for the company's forthcoming Apple Intelligence features.

Apple says that the CPU is 15 percent more faster than the A17 Pro chip, which opens doors for two times better ray tracing in conjunction with the GPU for high-end games.

New Camera Button

We have been hearing details of a Capture Button for a long time and the company has finally delivered in this regard. The Capture Button sits flush with the frame of the iPhone 16 Pro, allowing it to naturally respond to camera utilities. Since it is a capacitive button, you also have the option to swipe your finger right or left for zoom and much more. Lightly pressing the button would adjust the autofocus while a hard press would act as a shutter button.

The Action Button continues to serve as a dedicated shortcuts button for users, while housing some of the basic functionalities provided by Apple. Apple has added a new shortcuts for the button for easier access as well.

Connectivity And Storage

The iPhone 16 Pro models come with WiFi 7 for faster upload and download speeds, but you might want to upgrade your router to take advantage of the technology, As for the modem, the iPhone 16 Pro models are using Qualcomm's Snapdragon X75 models for faster 5G connectivity.

As for the storage both iPhone 16 Pro models come with base 256GB of storage capacity, an addition which was limited to the iPhone 15 Pro Max last year. Now, the company has seen to offer both models with the same storage, while keeping the price the same.

Battery And Ports

Apple continues to offer the iPhone 16 Pro with a USB-C port, a transition it made last year and we are all for it. The device features more peripheral options than ever before with much better data transfer speeds.

The iPhone 16 Pro models will be available for pre-order starting today and will be delivered to users on 20th September. We will be sharing additional details on the devices, so be sure to keep an eye out for follow up coverage.
