After waiting for more than a year, Apple has finally announced the new iPad Air models in two sizes. While the general design language is the same, it brings an all-new form factor, upgraded internals, and much more. The new iPad Air also comes in new color options and better speakers.
Apple announces new iPad Air in 11-inch and 13-inch screen sizes with M2 chip under the hood and the same price tag
As mentioned, the iPad Air is now available in two different screen sizes, and according to Apple, the devices are designed "to make features pioneered on iPad Pro at a more affordable price." Starting with the design, the new iPad Air is almost identical to its predecessor. It comes in the same recycled aluminum housing as the previous version but in a slightly bigger size. It still houses the same camera sensor at the back as well.
In terms of display, both iPad Air models come with an LCD Liquid Retina Display, which is plenty bright for daily use. Additionally, after months of speculations, the Face ID sensors and front-facing cameras on the devices are now situated in landscape mode. In landscape mode, you also now get stereo audio on both iPad Air models. However, the bigger 13-inch variant gets double the bass, according to Apple.
The major new change this time around is the new M2 chip, which makes the iPad Air models 50 percent faster than the M1 Air. Apple also touted that the M2 iPad Air is a very powerful device for AI. While the company did not pinpoint the AI features, we believe that the true potential of the devices will be unleashed later this year.

Apple has finally updated the base storage of the iPad Air as well, jumping from 64GB to 128GB. Additionally, you can upgrade the device with up to 1TB of storage capacity. The device still supports Touch ID in the Power Button. The company did not announce if the Magic Keyboard for the iPad Air will be as good as the 'Pro' models, but it is still a pretty great option.
The iPad Air is available in four distinct color options, including Blue, Pink, Starlight, and Space Grey. Despite these upgrades, Apple has decided to keep the price at the same level as its predecessor. The 11-inch variant will be available for $599 and the new 13-inch version will start at $799. You can order the devices starting today, and they will be available to you next week.
