Waiting for Android 7.1.1 for Nexus 6? Google Confirms It’ll Arrive in Early January

Released in 2014, Nexus 6 is the oldest device that is eligible for Nougat update. While the device did receive Android 7.0 Nougat update, Google didn't release Android 7.1.1 for Nexus 6 when it did for other Nexus and Pixel devices. The company also didn't say anything on why the update for Nexus 6 was still missing. If you were wondering whether the device will be upgraded to Android 7.1.1 Nougat or not, Google has now confirmed that the phone will indeed receive the important, feature-rich update.

Official Android 7.1.1 for Nexus 6 to come in early January

In response to the folks at AndroidPolice, Google gave the following statement:

Unfortunately, we found a last minute bug that was specific to the Nexus 6, which has caused the delay of the 7.1.1 OTA rollout. We've since fixed the issue and will be rolling out an update in early January.

Next year, Nexus 6 users will be able to test several new features that were previously exclusive to Pixel and were introduced to Nexus devices with Android 7.1.0. These features include:
